The Magician card is associated with manifestation and transformation.
There is a so-called Chinese proverb, loosely attributed to Sun Tzu and his classic The Art of War, that chaos is opportunity.
The energy here is chaotic. I get the mental image of black and white randomly together, like the snow on an old TV with no signal or the matrix of a granite counter top.
At the same time I ‘hear’ (meaning the intuition comes as words instead of mental images) There is great opportunity for manifestation
Think of this as drawing what you need…manifesting…out of the chaos.
How? That’s the tricky part. That is the part that makes working magic, well, work. A firm decision about goals and priorities and a healthy dose of persistence can help.
Know what you want and need, be a little flexible and adaptable about how you get there, and keep looking. The chaos may bring you something unexpected.
Hello and welcome to the TaoCraft Tarot blog and podcast. I’m glad you are here.
Water is life.
Literally.
Today’s card is the Ace of Cups. Aces are said to hold the essence of their suit. In this case, it is closely tied to water, intuition, romantic relationships, or all close relationships, really. I can’t say there are uncountable metaphors for cups and water, but there are a lot of them.
Sometimes ace cards, being the first card of the suit, carry a little bit of new-beginning energy. It isn’t the full new start, the very beginning of the beginning that you would see with the Fool card from the major arcana, but aces can be symbolic of a new beginning or a fresh start within an established project or ongoing process or stage of life. That is the energy that is coming with the card today.
Every day is a fresh start. Heck, every moment can be a fresh start if you need it to be.
Have you ever had a big drink of water? I’m not talking about a tall glass of ice water that you sip with a meal, I’m talking about a big, deep, fill-your-belly big drink of water. Like a kid in the summer drinking from the garden hose drink of water. It’s a satisfying kind of experience. Try it sometime if you don’t remember the sensation. Nothing extreme, just … satisfying.
It’s harmless enough of a thing. We all can use with a little extra hydration sometimes.
Tarot cards are literally just pieces of paper. There isn’t hard science behind it, but besides the famous Bruce Lee interview, there is an esoteric connection between water and subtle energy. A big drink of room temperature spring or filtered water is essential for both clients and practitioners after a Reiki session. Kneipp water therapy evolved as an extant healing system in late nineteenth century Europe. In addition to similar spas and soaks, Japanese custom and traditional medicine uses water drinking on an empty stomach and timed eating to help digestion, with a variety of unproven health benefits.
Taking a deep drink has literal and symbolic benefit.
Today is a new day, a new opportunity. Quaff it. Drink deeply from this opportunity. What you drink of? What is it that you drink in deeply? Water? Wine? Your own happiness.
Today is an opportunity. Today is an opportunity to drink deeply of health and happiness.
Cheers!

Left: Eight of Cups. This card always has a bittersweet feel to me, but in the end it is a very triumphant sort of message. It validates courage that has been gathered, progress that has been made. It take both to be able to move on emotionally from difficult situations. Moving ahead does not require that you leave memories or behind. This is more about going on with life with those things, neither abandoning nor stagnationg with them.
Center: Two of Wands. This is a week of opportunity, you can have the world in the palm of you hand, but timing is critical. Discretion really is the better part of valor. Be thoughtful, diplomatic, careful … look before you leap … but when the time comes, when the time comes, jump in. Watching, analysing and couragous action may all be needed.
Right: Seven of Pentacles. Plant seeds that are worth the wait. Thus is the week for foundation building, not instant gratification. Plant seeds that will a good harvest. Build a foundation for something to stand the test of time. In my minds eye I see precisely cut white marble or granite like greek temples or the Washington monument. Precision, attention to detail, and best effort (here Deadpool pops up with “two swords and maximum effort”) Long story short, focus on quality now to create domething that will be worth the wait later.
Been waiting for a sign from above? Not sure of the timing? Been thinking, watching, contemplating? Your cosmic clue doesn’t always come in the form we want or expect. That bolt from the blue change (or that slow motion steamroller of a change) might just be the thing to clear your way. Adapt, and you can put your dream path into overdrive.
