The Devil is in more than the details (Newsletter 21 September 23)

Weekly digest 9-21-23

The Devil isn’t just in the details…it’s all over the darn place.

Life isn’t always pretty, so Tarot isn’t always pretty. Sometimes the best thing a reading can do for us is break through walls of denial, yank the rose colored glasses off of our faces and set some jade ones into their place.

The Devil card from the major arcana is the ultimate card for that aspect of Tarot. It’s up in your face with cold, harsh reality -usually just when you need it most. It isn’t a call to fear. It is a call to courage.

There are reasons why positivity can go toxic. If there is nothing but light you are just as blinded as you are in pitch dark. It takes both light and shadow to see.

The Devil card’s reminder of the dark side can vary anywhere from the common sense to the dire and dramatic. The purpose isn’t to scare you – the purpose is to put you on an appropriate level of guard. Have batteries in the flashlight when a storm is forecast. Park in well lit areas and have your keys ready as you go to your car. Have the hard conversation with your significant other. Admit people you care about have the capacity to make bad political choices – and sometimes do.

There are gnarly things out there in the world. The Devil card reminds us that there are people out there who really don’t have your best interest at heart and this might be a good moment to take stock, face facts, and be safe.

Wish come true

Welcome to TaoCraft Short Sip: Tarot contemplation for your day in the time it takes to sip from your coffee. I’m glad you are here.

Today’s card is the nine of cups.

When this card turns up around the Fall and Winter holidays, it often brings a celebratory energy, one of intimate family celebrations like Thanksgiving for example. It doesn’t have the community vibe or cultural celebration energy we see with the four of wands as we talked about recently in the post One Step Wins.

Cups are symbolic of emotions and very inner circle relationships. When the nine of cups turns up other than the holidays, it shifts energy to match the time and context. The emotional facet steps forward more than the close relationship aspect of the suit. It is still very positive, it is still somewhat celebratory. The nine of cups symbolizes something that comes into fullness, and fruition and to a good conclusion.

It is about wishes come true.

If you want to take that as a prediction of good fortune or a wish coming true, feel free. I don’t see Tarot as predicting anything. Tarot is a writing prompt – for life. It’s a life-prompt. Tarot gives us ideas for problem solving and direction setting.

Today the energy also asks “so now what are you going to do?” What would you do if your wishes do come true. What are you going to do if you suddenly become the dog that catches the car its been chasing?

Here is an interesting thought experiment for you. I think it is from one of Richard Bach’s books. I think it was Bridge Across Forever or somewhere thereabout in his writing. I forget the exact wording. But try this. Close your eyes. Imagine when you open you eyes the world will be exactly as it should be. Imagine that your wishes have already been fulfilled. Imagine there is a path forward to the things you need.

Then open your eyes and see how many ways that imagination is already true.

Thank you for reading and listening.

One Step Win

TaoCraft Short Sip is Tarot for your day in the time it takes to sip from your coffee. Today: Four of Wands and a one step win.

Welcome to TaoCraft Short Sip: Tarot contemplation in the time it takes to sip from your coffee. I’m glad you are here.

Todays card is the Four of Wands.

It’s kind of weird being both a music fan and a little bit clairaudient.

Today is exactly why.

Clairaudience is like clairvoyance except it’s your intuition communicating to you through mental sounds or words instead of mental images. Most of the time it’s great, because like I said, I like a wide range of music. It’s not often that I’ll get an intuitive song reference that I don’t know well or don’t like.

Today, the split second the card turned over I immediately got a song, but had to google it in order to be able to talk about . All I heard was the line “na na na na na na life goes on” clear as a bell, music and all. It was vaguely familiar as the opening for some old TV show that was popular at the time, I guess, but not one I never watched for whatever reason.

Turns out it was Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da (Life Goes On) which was from an early 90s show called “Life Goes On” or so sayeth the Google. Not my favorite Beatles song. I know it may be heresy to some people, but I can take or leave a lot of their stuff and this is a leave one.

Which begs the question what does that have to do with the Four of Wands? Usually the card is associated with celebrations. These celebration are more community & society oriented, or celebrations that extend beyond the immediate family….like a large wedding or christening.

Now juxtapose that with the frightening news of war in Europe. How do you entertain the idea of community celebration when there is real chance of global implications for these events.

That leads to a pop culture reference that I enjoy more. Remember the wedding in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows? Ginny wonders if it isn’t a bit silly having a wedding “given everything that is going on.” Harry replies that maybe everything that is going on is really the best reason TO have it.

That’s the spirit of the Four of Wands today. Step by step, one foot in front of the other, life goes on. When you are feeling tired and discouraged or demoralized, taking that one more step is a win worth celebrating.

Thank you for reading, watching and listening to TaoCraft Tarot on the blog, in the podcast and on YouTube Shorts. None of it is monetized and it all depends on your support. No appointment needed email Tarot purchases on the blogcast website and Tarot Table memberships on ko-fi all contribute to creating this unique Tarot content.

Spring ’22

Spring Schedule: no appointment needed Tarot readings by email are open! Online video call Tarot readings available by appointment only. Email to schedule.

The nice thing about short-term planning is that the plan doesn’t have to stick together for very long.

Here is what I have in mind for Spring. No promises that it will actually turn out this way, but it’s what I’m aiming for:

  • Short sip posts most weekday mornings
  • Weekend Tarot Turnover posts on the …. ah…..weekend. Prolly Saturdays
  • YouChoose Interactive Tarot once each week. Maybe.
  • Random other posts like Oracle’s Toolkit will be … ah …random
  • Closed Sundays and U.S. holidays. If the Fed is closed, so am I ’cause I’ll be with hubster on his days off.
  • In-person and party Tarot will remain closed until Allegheny county covid transmission rates return to low (as reported by the CDC)
  • Email Tarot is OPEN – NO APPOINTMENT NEEDED
  • Online Zoom readings are OPEN with appointment – email to schedule
  • Still lots of different email layouts available with prices $5 – $40
  • More new stuff on the horizon. Keep a weather eye, matey. I’m hoping you’ll think it is really cool.
  • Distance Tarot is still my specialty
  • I still have – gasp – 30 years experience with reading cards.

Random Bitmoji

Hello everyone!

Holiday schedule? Did I actually say that?? Yeah – nah. Email readings are OPEN all season long because they don’t have schedule either. Order anytime, 24/7 , no appointment needed. Otherwise, things are going to be pretty random around here from now until Jan 3 or so.

Happy happy everyone!

YouChoose Interactive Tarot

Happy Holidays everyone!

This is the last YouChoose reading of 2021, and if everything works the way it should, it will be the first video in the podcast stream before the name changes in January 2022. I’m changing Clairvoyant Confessional to TaoCraft Tarot Podcast, and it will be, at least partially, an audio version of the blog here. This is still going to be the only place with ALL of the content in one place, so I hope you will sit tight and follow the blog BUT you have the option to listen if you prefer.

Speaking of listening – I’ll leave you to listen to the YouChoose video. I hope your time of winter quiet and contemplation is a wonderful one.

Holiday Hours: still have no idea exactly what time things will happen this week. All I know is that E-mail Tarot is OPEN all season long. The holidays can be as weird as they are wonderful, as disconcerting as delightful…all alliteration aside, if a Tarot reading would be of some comfort, I got you. Order anytime, 24/7 no appointment needed.

In-person and Party Tarot are currently closed and will re-open based on covid-19 community transmission rates as reported by the CDC for Allegheny County PA. As of today, 12-14-21 the transmission rate is HIGH.

10-23-21 Zombie Cat Still Shambles

Next weekend? Really? Well that month escalated fast.

Just a quick reminder that Zombie Cat yes/no readings are $5 off for only one more week before the price goes back to abnormal.

Zombie Cat yes/no readings used to be seasonal, but they are available year-round now on the “Special Layouts” section of the no-appointment email readings page.

What makes them “Zombie Cat” readings? They are written with fictional cartoon alter-ego Zombie Cat’s tongue in what’s left of his cheek mildly snarky dad joke level sense of humor . He’s a zombie. He’s a cat. He doesn’t care about how predictions do or don’t work. Zombie Cat doesn’t care about disclaimers (they still apply – ZC just doesn’t give a rat’s patootie about them) Ask ANYTHING. No promises it will be an answer you want to hear. Want a prediction? He’ll give it to you. It just might be dead wrong.

In other words, they are perfect fun for Halloween.

Or any other time of year.

The Distance Difference

Spent some time this afternoon updating the ABOUT section of the main menu. I hope you’ll browse around the site. I’ve tried to tuck some interesting bits here and there that I hope you’ll enjoy. Meanwhile here is my second favorite soapbox subject: Distance Tarot is just as effective as in-person Tarot.

Distance Tarot readings are my specialty. Order yours here.

The difference between live Tarot and distance Tarot is like the difference between podcast and an e-book.

It’s the same message, the same information, almost the same words except that you listen to one and read the other. One tends to have a conversational style while the other has a little extra depth and refinement. Both can be as lighthearted and fun or as profound and poetic as you need it to be.

Writing comes naturally to me, I enjoy it. I can type out a Tarot session as effortlessly as other psychics speak them. Keyboards are a like a direct hotline plugged right to my intuition. You get exactly the same reading as you would in-person. The information is the same either way.

Each format has different advantages and disadvantages. The difference isn’t in the substance of the reading. The difference is all surface aesthetics. The cake is the same, the difference is the frosting.

I’ve been asked “how can you read me if I’m not in the same room with you?” The answer is that I’m not actually really reading you at all. I’m reading universal life energy to get its message for you. The message comes in to me the same way, whether we are across a table or across the globe from each other. It makes no difference if I give the message out to you by speaking it or typing it.

Live phone readings are a middle ground. They require an appointment like in-person readings do, so they are less convenient than email readings. Phone readings are social and conversational and allow for questions in real time. All email distance readings include a follow up email for questions at no extra charge. Both have questions and conversation – it just happens at a different pace.

The biggest difference between a live session and a distance reading is on your side of things. It is all about how you want to take the message in. Live readings are raw and unedited. Written readings are more thoughtful and artfully worded. It is up to you whether you would rather use your ears or your eyes to take in the message that spirit gives to you.

Distance Tarot Has Many Advantages

Convenient: No appointment needed for email or video readings. Order the reading whenever you want, 24/7. Open the email (or snail mail for paper and ink style) and experience your reading whenever you want, as often as you want. Live phone readings are almost as easy, but require prepayment and an appointment.

Affordable: With email, I can offer smaller layouts that are not cost effective to do in-person. E-mail readings start as low as $5.

Private: No one sees you go anywhere. It is entirely up to you when and where you order and read your Tarot session.

Eco-friendly: Neither of us have to travel anywhere, no is gasoline burned, no paper used, no trees cut. I opted for a renewable electricity provider, so there is nearly zero carbon footprint for the whole thing!

Affordable: By working online, by phone, in public spaces or at your party venue (when in-person is available) I don’t have to keep an office or storefront. I pass those savings on to you. I charge per-session not per-minute so you know your full cost up front before the reading ever begins. A $40 seven card reading usually lasts 45 minutes to an hour. Compare that to the average $90-$100 per hour that some psychics charge (source: www.payscale.com).

Email and Phone Tarot is Covid-19 safe – for both of us.
